(April 29, 2019) – “Universal Monsters” will come to life in all-new terrifying Halloween Horror Nights mazes at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort, inspired by Universal’s original cinematic monsters and the movie studio that invented the horror films. The terrifying experiences on both coasts will wake some of the most frightening and legendary monsters in horror history and bring them face-to-face with guests at the nation's premier Halloween events.

On the heels of last year’s successful “Universal Monsters” experience, Universal Studios Hollywood will introduce an all-new horrifying maze, “Frankenstein Meets The Wolf Man,” that delves deeper into the Universal Monsters’ lore. Loosely based on Universal’s 1943 horror movie of the same name, this reimagined tale for the 21st century takes guests on a terrifying journey that bears witness to a deadly confrontation between these two horror icons and the epic battle that rages between them. Guests will follow in the footsteps of the Frankenstein Monster, lured by exotic music towards a nearby gypsy camp while desperately seeking sanctuary from a mob of angry villagers determined to destroy him. It is within the gypsy encampment that the Frankenstein Monster meets The Wolf Man and where the madness begins as guests are led along a path of destruction through the murky Moors, to a creepy cemetery and into the smoldering ruins of Castle Frankenstein and its icy cellars beneath.

Once again, GRAMMY® Award-winning musician, SLASH, long hailed as one of the best electric guitar-players of all time, will collaborate with Universal Studios Hollywood to compose an original score for the maze. At Universal Orlando Resort, guests will be hunted by every single grisly monster from the anthology, including Dracula, The Wolf Man and Frankenstein, in the all-new experience, “Universal Monsters.” Each sinister environment will bleed from one to the next as guests press through the darkened realms of horrifying creatures. Guests will face bloody terrors in Dracula’s castle and flee from what is behind the cryptic howls of the grim forest. They’ll run from the horrifying manmade monster within Dr. Frankenstein’s laboratory, and fall prey to an ancient Egyptian curse as they are pursued by the evil Mummy. Guests will try to escape the mysterious Creature lurking in the Black Lagoon, or become victims of other horrors waiting in the shadows. Santa Ana, Calif. (April 22, 2019)  – On March 22, more than 60+ attendees of Project Anime: Tokyo were given the opportunity to gain better insight in working with Japanese rights holders and learn more about the business of anime and manga. Organizers of anime events from around the world, heard from the companies behind the upcoming Gundam movie, learned about the growth of the U.S. manga market, and enjoyed an informative keynote from Japan Times/OtakuUSA reporter, Matt Schley. Held annually in Tokyo around the massive Anime Japan event, Project Anime: Tokyo, is hosted by the Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation (SPJA).
 
“Project Anime: Tokyo’s chief goal is to help anime events around the world learn best practices,” said event director Azusa Matsuda. “This year, we added programming designed to provide attendees information about how anime is growing and being received around the world.”
 
Project Anime: Tokyo 2019 also provided attendees with a State of the U.S. Manga Market 2018 White Paper presented by Nonlinear World. The in-depth analysis of the revived U.S. Manga Market and its steady growth was a true highlight of Project Anime. White Papers such as these have become a new feature of our B2B conference. In addition to the presentations, attendees had an opportunity to meet and interact with representatives from the anime and manga industry at an evening reception.
 
Attendees hailed the event as a success, commenting: “In a word: enlightening. Super useful,” “[the] right thing for us,” and noting that it was “a good networking event with good information provided.”
 
Project Anime’s next event takes place in Los Angeles on July 2-3, leading into the 28th annual Anime Expo. With four times the amount of programming, attendees can look forward to getting all the information they need to understand the worldwide growth of the anime and manga business. The focus this year will be “Where Hollywood Meets Anime”, and will feature speakers from both sides of the Pacific talking about upcoming projects.

As panic and chaos ensue, the source is revealed:  JURASSIC WORLD’s unstoppable Tyrannosaurus rex tramples her way across sets and sound stages to ignite Universal Studios Hollywood’s new marketing campaign, It Just Got Real, in support of the theme park’s eagerly awaited mega attraction, “Jurassic World—The Ride,” opening this summer.

“Jurassic World—The Ride” will debut an original storyline that takes place within the theme park as depicted in Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment’s film, JURASSIC WORLD, on the day the Indominus rex escapes.

The exciting thrill ride will soar to new heights with the addition of several iconic dinosaurs from the movie, including the colossal Indominus rex and the magnificent aquatic Mosasaurus that will mesmerize onlookers in her natural habitat from behind a three million gallon glass encased Aquarium Observatory tank.

“Jurassic World—The Ride” comes to life under the direction of the award-winning and inspired minds at Universal Creative, the Academy Award®-winning special-effects visionaries at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), a division of Lucasfilm, Ltd., Universal Pictures and acclaimed filmmakers Steven Spielberg, Colin Trevorrow and Frank Marshall.

The aesthetics of “Jurassic World—The Ride” will be dramatically enhanced welcoming guests to a reimagined space reflective of the JURASSIC WORLD films. In addition, there will be a fresh new entry statement, stonework landscaping and a contemporary redesign of the iconic JURASSIC WORLD gates, illuminated with billowing flames.

Engaging and interactive queue-line videos featuring facts and information about the dinosaurs within the ride will set the tone for the expedition ahead, as guests learn more about these imposing prehistoric creatures that first roamed the earth more than 65 million years ago.
Once aboard specially designed rafts, guests will navigate the lush environs of dense vegetation, traversing new areas besieged with towering dinosaurs meandering at just an arm’s length away from visitors.  Encounters with such docile creatures as the Stegosaurus and Parasaurolophus will quickly turn awry as predatory Velociraptors and Dilophosaurus begin to wreak havoc, turning guests from spectators to prey.  When the Tyrannosaurus rex begins to battle one of the attraction’s new ferocious dinosaurs, the rafts will spill down a treacherous 84-foot waterfall as the sole means of escape.

Located adjacent to the ride will be a new elaborately themed “Raptor Encounter” where Blue, the most beloved Velociraptor from the JURASSIC WORLD franchise, will engage guests in daring face-to-face encounters.

In addition, a new interactive “Dino Play” area will incorporate educational components within an inspired space where children of all ages can explore and excavate giant dinosaur fossils.

At the Charles M. Schulz Theatre Beach Blanket Beagle brings the beach fun to the farm with this musical dance party set to the classic beach comber tunes of the 60’s and 70’s, and stars the coolest beagle around, Snoopy! Showing on select dates from June 7th – August 11th.

A hot summer day calls for a visit to Knott’s Soak City Waterpark, Orange County’s largest water park, as it kicks off another splashed-filled summer season opening select dates starting May 18th through September 8th. Universal City, CA, April 10, 2019 – Adoption day is the ultimate rite of passage for every animal seeking a home, and it’s now the inspiration for Universal Studios Hollywood’s lively new ride, “The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash!,” opening in 2020 based on Illumination’s 2016 global blockbuster and upcoming sequel, which answers the question, “What do your pets do when you’re not at home?”

In this all-new fully immersive experience, guests will assume the roles of stray puppies as they join a familiar cast of leading characters from  The Secret Life of Pets — Max, Snowball, Gidget, Chloe and Duke, along with a host of other animal friends — on the ultimate quest of finding forever homes.

The innovative adventure will blend live, dimensional and animated characters with hyper-realistic media as guests zip along a track aboard ride vehicles through bustling New York City streets towards the Pet Adoption event and the ultimate happy ending:  forever homes.  Along the way, guests will face an array of challenges and meet up with fellow animal pals eager to help guide them toward their destination.

MIDSUMMER SCREAM WELCOMES THE CRYPT KEEPER HIMSELF TO HEADLINE 30TH ANNIVERSARY PANEL FOR HBO’S “TALES FROM THE CRYPT”

LONG BEACH, CA - Hey there, kiddies! Midsummer Scream, the world’s largest Halloween and horror fan convention, will be commemorating the 30th anniversary of HBO’s Tales from the Crypt at the Long Beach Convention Center August 3 and 4.

On Sunday, August 4, Midsummer Scream will host 30 Years of Tales From the Crypt with cast and crew who helped create the show and its spin-offs on the main stage in the Grand Ballroom, including John Kassir, the voice of the Crypt Keeper, Academy Award-winning special effects supervisor Richard Edlund, Masters of Horror filmmaker Ernest R. Dickerson, and others.

Inspired by the 1950s-era line of EC Comics that were ultimately banned for depictions of the undead and other horror themes, a live-action version of Tales from the Crypt was a natural fit for premium cable channel HBO, which had minimal network standards.

Tales from the Crypt was executive produced by Richard Donner, David Giler, Walter Hill, Joel Silver, Robert Zemeckis, and featured a main title theme by Danny Elfman. Spanning 96 episodes from 1989 to 1996, Tales from the Crypt was often helmed by A-list directors and starred leading Hollywood talent. The series would go on to spawn two feature films, an animated series, and several music albums including a Christmas record!

30 Years of Tales From the Crypt will offer a behind-the-scenes look at making the series and feature films, and a discussion of both its appeal and enduring legacy.
Panelists:
  • John Kassir is an actor, comedian, and voice actor, best known as the voice of the Crypt Keeper on HBO’s Tales from the Crypt, its movie spin-offs, and the animated series, Tales from the Cryptkeeper.
  • Richard Edlund is an Academy Award-winning special effects supervisor and producer with credits including Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Species, The Monster Squad, Fright Night, Poltergeist, and the title sequence used to open each episode of Tales from the Crypt.
  • Ernest R. Dickerson’s film and television career includes directing Surviving the Game, Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight, Bones, and several episodes of The Walking Dead and Dexter. He is currently shooting several episodes of CBS All Access’ true-crime drama Interrogation.
  • William Malone’s directing credits include two episodes of Tales from the Crypt, as well as three episodes of Freddy’s Nightmares, and the feature films House on Haunted Hill and Feardotcom.
  • Gregory Melton’s production design work includes feature films Idle Hands, Majestic, The Mist, the first season of The Walking Dead, and TV series Freddy’s Nightmares, Tales from the Crypt, and most recently, 106 episodes of Agents of Shield.
  • The panel will be moderated by Robert Parigi, a post-production supervisor and associate producer who worked on two seasons of Tales from the Crypt and the feature film spin-off, Demon Knight. Parigi also wrote and directed Love Object.
John Kassir will also be meeting fans and signing autographs all weekend on the Midsummer Scream show floor.

Japanese TV Anime Series "SHIKIZAKURA" will Have Voice Cast Audition atANIME EXPO 2019!

“SHIKIZAKURA” is the first TV animation series with 12 episodes, created in Tokai region (Central Japan). It is scheduled to be on-air in 2020.
 
The production company of the series is SUBLIMATION, known for their works such as “Love Live!” series, “Tokyo Ghoul” series, “Psycho-Pass” series, “GHOST IN THE SHELL: ARISE” series and “EVANGELION:3.0 YOU CAN (NOT) REDO.”
 
CHUKYO TV is excited to announce that it will hold voice cast audition during ANIME EXPO (AX) 2019 for an English-speaking role which will occur in one episode. This is the first time in AX history that a winner can join the cast of a Japanese anime.
 
Entry details and additional information will be announced in late April.
 
In addition, virtual YouTube influencer, MIYA KIMINO, will promote the voice cast audition on her channel. MIYA is a bilingual character delivering the information of Japanese culture centered on anime to the world. Her channel gathers more than 170,000 enthusiastic fans from all over the world. Celebrate National Boysenberry Day at Knott’s by Dressing Your Berry Best on April 3rd

WHAT:   On Wednesday, April 3, Knott’s Berry Farm is celebrating National Boysenberry Day to commemorate its historic roots and the little berry that started it all, the boysenberry.  A boysenberry is a hybrid berry composed of blackberry, raspberry, and loganberry.  In 1932 Walter and Cordelia Knott put their stamp on the berry world by being the first to harvest the boysenberry successfully.  The Knott family then began selling boysenberry jams, jellies, and preserves, due to the popularity of its boysenberry products it later led to the birth of Knott’s Berry Farm.  Today all the boysenberry in the world can trace its roots back to Knott’s Berry Farm.  To show love to the berry that placed Knott’s on the map the park is inviting guests to dress their Berry Best by sporting formal boysenberry themed outfits for National Boysenberry Day.  During the event, guests are encouraged to dress as stylish as needed by wearing bowties, gloves, suits or  skirts.  Knott’s provides the best back-drops for all the stylish outfits which guests can share online with friends by using #NationalBoysenberryDay

Guests entering the park will receive a commemorative National Boysenberry Day pin to mark the special occasion and at 4 pm in Calico Mine Stage guests dressed in their berry best will have the option to participate in the first-ever National Boysenberry Day Fashion Show where the town’s  Judge will select a participating guest with the most festive and creative outfit as the fashion show’s winner.  The winner will receive a boysenberry prize and the reputation of being known as the berry best dressed.  Most importantly on National Boysenberry Day guests will also have the opportunity to indulge in over 75 unique boysenberry food items that are exclusively available during the Knott’s Boysenberry Festival which is available from March 29 – April 28th.
