Universal Studios Hollywood and M.E.N.D.'s 27th "Christmas in Spring"
June 5, 2018 - On Saturday, June 2nd, "hundreds of Universal Studios Hollywood [USH] employee volunteers [came] together, [once again,] in partnership with M.E.N.D. (Meet Each Need with Dignity), to bring goodwill to 1,000 guests, including families, in need. Although we have greatly enjoyed covering the event the last four years, the history spans much longer, as this was the 27th year “Christmas in Spring” was shared with families.
As has been the case during each of our visits, smiles were the currency of the event, as children laughed, played, and engaged with USH team members that ranged from Scooby and Shaggy to the park’s executive leadership team. “'Christmas in Spring' has touched the lives of over 16,000 family members living in poverty in the San Fernando Valley area, providing them with holiday cheer during a time of year when their needs are often overlooked." M.E.N.D. families enjoyed an afternoon of food, games, dancing and face painting. Additionally, each child took home a bag of goodies to commemorate the day.
“'Christmas in Spring' is a charity event sponsored by Universal Studios Hollywood and it’s “Discover A Star” Foundation. The Foundation provides grants to deserving organizations whose initiatives help individuals and families to achieve more productive and fulfilling lives." Seeing the product of so much behind-the-scenes efforts always provides a heartwarming afternoon and 2018 was no exception, leaving us with another contender for our top moments of the year.
